2024 Panel Exhibition ！ "A Water Story about the Chiba Clan

More than we can imagine today, people's lives in pre-modern times were deeply connected to the sea and rivers, in other words, to water. Rivers and oceans were also important infrastructure for the Chiba clan, who were "lords of the sea" with economic ties to all parts of Japan through water transportation, as they functioned as trunk roads and harbors.
In addition, the annual summer trip down to the beach was originally an event associated with the Myoken Festival, which was worshipped by the Chiba clan. Since the sea and rivers were deeply involved in the history of the Chiba Clan, it is necessary to focus on the relationship with rivers and other factors in order to understand this clan.

This exhibition will show the relationship between the "water world" consisting of rivers and the sea ・ ponds in the city area and the Chiba clan from a historical ・ cultural perspective.
